Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification (as on 15.07.2025):

• Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.
• Some posts may require specific qualifications (e.g., law, commerce, or Tamil language proficiency).
• Candidates should have adequate knowledge of the Tamil language.

Group II Services

1. Assistant Inspector (Post Code 1068) (Labour) – A degree from any University Accredited by the UGC Other things being equal preference shall be given to candidates (i) Who possesses the Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Social Work or (ii) Who possesses the Diploma awarded by the Madras School of Social Work or (iii) who graduated from Sagar University with a Master of Arts (MA) in Applied Psychology, or (iv) who finished the two-year Diploma Program at the Xavier Labour Relation Institute in Bihar or the Institute for Labour Welfare Workers in Bombay, or (v) who has earned a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Baroda, a PG Diploma in Labour Administration from the Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies, or a degree in Labour Specialization from the PSG School of Social Work, Coimbatore, or a PG Diploma Program in Social Services from the Institute of Social Science, Loyola College, Madras, overseen by the Indian Institute of Social Order, Pune or (viii) Who has earned a postgraduate diploma in labor welfare, industrial relations, and personnel management from the Madras Productivity Council; (ix) who has graduated from the Madurai Institute of Social Work in Madurai with a postgraduate diploma in labor relations and personnel management; or (x) who has been released from short service, regular commissioning officers, emergency commissioning officers, or other ex-servicemen; or (xi) who has a Master of Arts (MA) degree in work education from the University of Madras

4. 5. Probation Officer (Post Code 1023) (Prisons and Correctional Services) – (i) A degree from any University Accredited by the UGC (ii) When all other factors are equal, preference will be given to a) Having a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Sociology or Criminology, or a degree in either Sociology or Psychology, or b) Having a Sociology or Psychology diploma in addition to a degree in any other field (or) c) Who has rendered Social Welfare Work for a period of not less than one year (or) d) Those have received the Madras School of Social Work’s Diploma in Social Work

6. Sub Registrar, Grade-II (Post Code 1071) (Registration) – (i) A degree from any University Accredited by the UGC (ii) When all else is equal, preference will be given to those who hold a B.L. degree in addition to the previously listed qualifications.

7. Special Branch Assistant (Post Code 2279) (Greater Chennai Police) – (i) A degree from any University Accredited by the UGC (ii) Those who have completed the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting and Shorthand, at least by the Lower Grade, will be given preference. Note: Unless they have previously completed the exam, a person appointed to the position must pass the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting by the Higher Grade within the allotted time for their probation.

8. Special Branch Assistant (Post Code 3116) (Criminal Investigation) – (i) A degree from any University Accredited by the UGC (ii) Those who have completed the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting and Shorthand, at least by the Lower Grade, will be given preference. Note: Unless they have previously completed the exam, a person appointed to the position must pass the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting by the Higher Grade within the allotted time for their probation.

9. Assistant Section Officer (Post Code 2201) (Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission) – (i) A Master’s degree; (or) (ii) A Bachelor’s degree and a Bachelor of General Law (B.G.L) degree; (or) (iii) An undergraduate degree in any of the following fields: If an applicant belongs to one of the following categories, a bachelor’s degree is sufficient: Scheduled Tribes, Most Backward Class/Denotified Communities, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Castes (Arunthathiyars), Backward Classes (Other than BCM), or Backward Classes (Muslim).

Salary Details:  The salary structure varies by post and group category:

Group II (Interview Posts): ₹37,200 – ₹1,17,600 (Level 20 of the pay matrix)

Group IIA (Non-Interview Posts): ₹20,600 – ₹75,900 (Level 10 of the pay matrix)
