Vacancy And Salary Details For UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination 2023
The Union Public Service Commission will hold a Screening Test for selection to Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, 2023 through Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2023 which will be held on 28th May, 2023, in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change in the Gazette of India dated the 01st February, 2023.
The number of vacancies to be filled on the results of the examination is expected to be approximately 150. The number of vacancies is liable to alteration. Reservation will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Section and Person with Benchmark Disability Categories in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government.
Eligiblity Criteria For UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination 2023

Educational Qualifications For IFS 2023 : A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Zoology, or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
Age Limit For IFS Recruitment 2023 : A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st August 2023, i.e. he/ she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1991 and not later than 1st August 2002.
Application Fee For UPSC IFS Recruitment 2023
- Candidates applying (excepting Female/ SC/ ST/ PwBD candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Visa/ Master/ RuPay Credit/ Debit card.
- Applicants who opt for the “Pay by Cash” mode should print the system-generated Pay-in slip during part II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of the SBI Branch on the next working day only.
- “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23.59 hours of 20th February 2023 i.e. one day before the closing date.

Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination and Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service.
IFS Prelims Exam Pattern : There are two papers, GS I and CSAT, both objective in nature. Each question in the General Studies paper carries 2 marks. Each question in the Civil Service Aptitude Test paper carries 2.5 marks. There is a 1/3 mark deduction for every incorrect answer.
IFS Mains Exam Pattern : The UPSC IFS Mains exam is absolutely separate from the IAS (UPSC CSE) exam. There are 6 papers in the Indian Forest Service Mains Exam. Each paper is a descriptive type. Two optional subjects are chosen from the given list of subjects.
Interview Pattern : Candidates who qualify the UPSC Mains Exam, will get opportunity to appear in the UPSC IFS Interview Exam. The candidates who qualify in the UPSC IFS Interview will finally get selected in the UPSC IFS Exam for various posts within the Indian Forest Services.

How To Apply For UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination 2023
Step 1: Visit the official website of UPSC www.upsc.gov.in
Step 2: On the home page click the link for UPSC IFS Exam 2023 and download the notification.
Step 3: Check the eligibility criteria and last date to apply.
Steps 4: Register on OTR (One Time Registration) portal by Clicking the New Registration button.
Step 4 : After registration, login using Email ID/ Mobile Number/ OTR ID to verify the already registered OTR application.
Step 5 : Go to the Latest Notification tab in the OTR application and apply for the UPSC IFS Examination 2023.
Step 6 : Fill all the required details correctly and pay the application fee if required.
