Southern Railway Recruitment 2024 Scouts & Guides Quota Posts : Southern Railway has officially announced the recruitment for 17 posts under the Scouts & Guides Quota for 2024. Quota Wise Vacancies:
Eligibility Criteria for Southern Railway Scouts & Guides Quota 2024
Educational Qualification:
Level 2 – Passed 12th (+2 stage) from recognised board or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. 50% marks are not to be insisted upon in case of ST/SC/ Ex-servicemen for NTPC categories. OR Passed Matriculation from recognised board plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship for technician categories. OR Passed Matriculation from recognised board plus ITI approved by NCVT for technician categories.
Level 1 – 10th pass OR ITI OR equivalent OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT OR 10th pass plus National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT OR 10th pass plus ITI.
Qualification for Scouts & Guides Quota:
(a) A President’s Scout / Guide / Ranger/ Rover (or) Himalayan Wood Badge Holder in any section (Note:- As per Railway Board letter No. E(NG)II/2023/RR-2/1 dated 10.04.2024, with reference to admissibility of provisional certificates of a President’s Scout / Guide / Rover / Ranger (or) Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) Holder, it is mentioned that such candidates will be provisionally allowed to participate in the selection procedure. However their empanelment/appointment will be regulated as per procedures laid down in para 1(iii) of Board’s instructions dated 07.02.2000.)
(b) Should have been an active member of a Scouts organization for the last Five years. The ‘Certificate of Activeness’ should be as per Annexure-I (enclosed); and
(c) Should have attended two events at National Level OR All Indian Railway’s level AND Two Events at State Level.
Note:
(i) Atleast Five years in the recent past i.e. during 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023- 24 and should continue to be active, i.e during 2024-25 (till date).
(ii) Certificate should contain the ‘List of Events attended by Applicant.
Age Limit: (As on 01.01.2025)
Level 2– 18 to 30 Years
Level 1 – 18 to 33 Years
Relaxation of Upper age limit:
| For SC/ ST Candidates: 5 years |
| For OBC Candidates: 3 years |
| For PwBD (Gen/ EWS) Candidates: 10 years |
| For PwBD (SC/ ST) Candidates: 15 years |

Salary :
- For Level 2 Posts: The selected candidates will receive a salary in the pay scale of Rs. 19,900 – Rs. 63,200.
- For Level 1 Posts: The selected candidates will be entitled to a pay scale of Rs. 18,000 – Rs. 56,900.
In addition to the basic pay, employees will receive various allowances as per the rules and policies of Southern Railway.
Selection Process : The selection process for this recruitment will consist of the following stages:
Written Test:
The written test will assess candidates on subjects like General Knowledge, Scouts & Guides organization, and the history of the Scouts & Guides movement.
The test will carry a total of 60 marks.
The minimum qualifying marks will be 35% for the General category and 33% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Scouts & Guides Skill Assessment:
A practical skill assessment related to Scouts & Guides will be conducted.
This stage will carry a total of 40 marks.
Document Verification:
Candidates who clear the written test and skill assessment will be called for document verification.
During this stage, original documents regarding educational qualifications, Scouts & Guides qualifications, and identity proof will be verified.
The final merit list will be prepared based on the candidates’ performance in the written test and skill assessment.
