1. Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Operator – 152 Posts
2. Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Maintainer – 115 Posts
Eligibility Criteria: Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria specified in the official notification. The criteria for the respective posts are as follows:
Educational Qualification: (As on 11.09.2024)
| 1. Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Operator – HSC (10+2) or ISC in Science stream (with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics Subjects) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. |
| 2. Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Maintainer – – 10th with minimum 50% marks in Science subject(s) and Mathematics individually and Two years ITI certificate in relevant trade (Electrician/ Fitter/ Instrumentation/ Machinist/ Electronics/ Turner/ Welder) – For trades for which the duration of the ITI course is less than 2 years, the Applicants shall have at least one year relevant working experience after completion of the course |
Age Limit: (As on 11.09.2024)
1. Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Operator – 18 to 24 yrs
2. Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Maintainer – 18 to 24 yrs
Relaxation of Upper age limit:

| For OBC Candidates: 3 years |
| For PwBD (Gen/ EWS) Candidates: 10 years |
| For PwBD (SC/ ST) Candidates: 15 years |

Salary Details: Upon selection and successful completion of the training period, candidates will be absorbed in the relevant Grade and will be entitled to receive the following pay:
- Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Operator – During 1st year of training stipend of Rs.20,000/- Per Month. During 2nd year of training stipend of Rs.22,000/- Per Month. Book allowance (one time grant) – Rs.3000/-
- Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Maintainer – During 1st year of training stipend of Rs.20,000/- Per Month. During 2nd year of training stipend of Rs.22,000/- Per Month. Book allowance (one time grant) – Rs.3000/-
- After successful completion of training, the pay scale will range from INR 21,700/- to INR 44,900/- per month, depending on the post and experience.
Selection Process: The selection process for the NPCIL Stipendiary Trainee posts will consist of the following stages:
Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Operator – Written Examination (Stage-1- Preliminary Test, & Stage-2- Advanced Test) + Physical Standard Test+ Document Verification
Category-II Stipendiary Trainee (ST/TN) Maintainer – Written Examination (Stage-1- Preliminary Test, & Stage-2- Advanced Test) + Physical Standard Test+ Document Verification +Skill Test
Written Examination: The written exam will be objective type, covering relevant subjects based on the educational qualification required for the posts. There will be a specific number of questions related to General Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning.
Skill Test: Candidates qualifying in the written examination will be called for a skill test specific to the post they have applied for. The skill test will assess the practical knowledge of the candidates in their respective trades.
Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the skill test will be called for a personal interview, where their overall suitability for the role will be assessed.
Document Verification: Candidates who clear the above stages will be required to produce original documents for verification.
Medical Examination: The final selection will be based on a medical examination to confirm that the candidates meet the required health standards.
