Eligibility Criteria : Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the ICF Apprentices 2024 notification:
Educational Qualification:

- Candidates should have passed the 10th class examination under the 10+2 system or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks.
- They should also possess a National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) or the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT).
For Ex-ITI Fitter, Electrician & Machinist – Should have passed Std X (with a minimum of 50% marks) with Science & Maths under 10+2 system or its equivalent and also possess National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training or State Council for Vocational Training of one year and above. |
For Ex-ITI Carpenter, Painter & Welder – Should have passed Std X (with a minimum of 50% marks) under 10+2 system or its equivalent and also possess National Trade Certificate in the notified trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training or State Council for Vocational Training of one year and above. |
For Ex-ITI Programming and System Admin. Asst. – Should have passed Std X (with a minimum of 50% marks) and also possess National Trade certificate in the trade of Computer Operator and Programming Asst. issued by the National Council for Vocational Training or State Council for Vocational Training of one year and above. |
For Freshers Fitter, Electrician & Machinist – Should have passed Std X (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) with Science & Maths under 10+2 system or its equivalent. |
For Freshers Carpenter & Painter – Should have passed Std X (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) under 10+2 system or its equivalent. |
For Freshers Welder- Should have passed Std X (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) under 10+2 system or its equivalent. |
For Freshers MLT (Radiology & Pathology) – Should have passed Std XII examination under 10 + 2 system with Physics, Chemistry & Biology. |
Note: Candidates with qualifications viz. Engineering Degree/Diploma and Course Completed Act Apprentices are not eligible to apply. |

- For Ex-ITI Programming and System Admin. Asst. – 1 Year
- For Freshers Fitter, Electrician & Machinist – 2 Years
- For Freshers Carpenter & Painter – 2 Years
- For Freshers Welder – 1 year 3 months
- For Freshers MLT (Radiology & Pathology) – 1 year 3 months
Age Limit(As on 21.06.2024): ITI candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age. Non ITI candidates should have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 22 years of age.
Relaxation of Upper age limit:
For SC/ ST Candidates: 5 years |
For OBC Candidates: 3 years |
For PwBD (Gen/ EWS) Candidates: 10 years |
For PwBD (SC/ ST) Candidates: 15 years |
For PwBD (OBC) Candidates: 13 years |
Reservation/Relaxation/ Concession to SC/ ST/PwBD etc. candidates shall be as per Government of India directives.
Salary : The stipend for apprentices during the training period will be as per the extant rules governed by the ICF and the Ministry of Railways. Typically, the stipend may vary depending on the trade and the year of apprenticeship training.
Stipend:
1. Freshers – School pass-outs (class 10th) – Rs.6000/- (per month) |
2. Freshers – School pass-outs (class 12th) – Rs. 7000/- (per month) |
3. Ex-ITI–National or State certificate holder – Rs.7000/- (per month) |
Selection Process : The selection of candidates will be based on a merit list. The merit list will be prepared by considering the marks obtained in the 10th class and ITI marks in the trade in which apprenticeship is to be done. In case of a tie, the candidate older in age will be preferred. If the tie persists, the candidate who passed the 10th exam earlier will be considered.
