The UPSC ESE Preliminary exam was held on 5th February 2023, in which thousands of candidates appeared across various centers in India. The Preliminary exam is an objective-type paper consisting of two papers, Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-I consists of General Studies and Engineering Aptitude, while Paper-II is specific to the engineering discipline chosen by the candidate. The exam duration is two hours for each paper, and there is negative marking for wrong answers.
The UPSC ESE 2023 Prelims Result has been declared on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper-I, as Paper-II is only evaluated for those candidates who qualify for the Mains exam. This will open a new page where they need to click on the ‘Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2023’ link. This will open the PDF file containing the list of roll numbers of candidates who have qualified for the Mains exam.
Candidates whose roll numbers appear in the list need to fill the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the Mains exam. The DAF will be available on the UPSC website from 17th April 2023 to 1st May 2023. Candidates need to fill in all the required details and submit the form online within the specified time frame.
The UPSC ESE Mains exam is a conventional-type paper consisting of two papers, Paper-I and Paper-II, specific to the engineering discipline chosen by the candidate. Each paper is of three hours duration, and the exam is held over two days. Candidates who qualify for the Mains exam will be called for the Personality Test/Interview, which is the final stage of the selection process.
