TNUSRB SI Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2023: Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) is responsible for conducting various recruitment examinations for various positions in the state. One such recruitment examination conducted by the board is for the post of Sub-Inspector (SI) in the Tamil Nadu Police Department. The TNUSRB SI (TK, AR, TSP) recruitment examination is conducted every year to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector in Tamil Nadu Police Department. TNUSRB SI (TK, AR, TSP) Exam Pattern 2022-2023: The TNUSRB SI exam pattern for Tamil Nadu (TK), Armed Reserve (AR), and Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) is similar. The written exam is conducted for 70 marks, while the physical endurance test and physical measurement test carry 15 and 10 marks, respectively. The viva-voice is for 5 marks.
The written exam is an objective-type exam, and candidates will have to answer 140 questions in 3 hours. The questions will be from various subjects, including general knowledge, logical analysis, numerical analysis, communication skills, and information handling ability.
Written Examination: The written examination is conducted for a total of 70 marks. It consists of questions from various subjects such as General Knowledge, General Ability Test, Logical Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Psychology Test, and Communication Skills.

Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Candidates who qualify for the written examination will be called for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT). The PMT consists of measuring the height, chest, and weight of the candidates. Candidates who do not meet the required physical standards will be disqualified from the recruitment process.

Endurance Test (ET): Candidates who qualify for the PMT will be called for the Endurance Test (ET). The ET consists of various physical tasks such as running, long jump, high jump, and shot put. Candidates who fail to meet the required standards in the ET will be disqualified from the recruitment process.

Endurance Test is qualifying nature. Only the candidates who qualify in the Endurance Test will be allowed to participate in the Physical Efficiency Test.

Note: Men and Women /Transgender candidates should get minimum one star in each event, failing which they will be disqualified at the same stage.
TNUSRB SI (TK, AR, TSP) Selection Process 2022-2023: The selection process for the TNUSRB SI (TK, AR, TSP) recruitment exam consists of three stages, which are as follows:
Written Examination
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
Endurance Test (ET)
Candidates who clear all three stages of the recruitment process will be called for the final interview. The interview is conducted for a total of 10 marks. The final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the written examination, PMT, ET, and the interview.
TNUSRB SI (TK, AR, TSP) Syllabus: The TNUSRB SI (TK, AR, TSP) Syllabus for the written examination consists of the following subjects:
General Knowledge: History, Geography, Economics, Indian Constitution, Indian Polity, Indian Culture, Indian National Movement, Current Affairs, etc.
General Ability Test: Analogies, Similarities and Differences, Spatial Visualization, Spatial Orientation, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, Verbal and Figure Classification, Arithmetical Number Series, Non-Verbal Series, Coding and Decoding, Statement Conclusion, etc.
Logical Analysis: Logical Deduction, Logical Venn Diagrams, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, etc.
Numerical Analysis: Numerical Aptitude, Number System, Simplification, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Profit and Loss, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Data Interpretation, etc.
Psychology Test: Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Emotional Intelligence (EI), Mental Ability, etc.
Communication Skills: English Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Synonyms, Antonyms, etc.
Special Marks For NCC/NSS/Sports/Games For Open Candidates:
- Special marks shall be given to the candidates during Viva-Voce as detailed below, subject to a maximum of 5 marks.
- National Cadet Corps (NCC)(Maximum 2 Marks):

1. Basket Ball, 2.Football, 3.Hockey, 4.Volley Ball, 5.Hand Ball, 6. Kabbadi, 7.Wrestling, 8.Boxing, 9.Gymnastics, 10.Judo, 11.Weight Lifting, 12. Aquatics (Swimming), 13.Athletics, 14.Equitation (Horse riding), 15. Rifle Shooting and 16. Silambam are eligible for awarding of marks.
Represented School in District level : ½ Mark
Represented College in zonal level (Inter Collegiate) : 1/2 Mark
Represented University (Form-III) (Inter University) : 1 Mark
Represented District in Inter District tournament : 1 Mark
Represented State (Form-II) (Tamil Nadu) : 1 1/2 Mark
Represented Nation in international Competition (Form-I) (India) : 2 Mark
In each category, the highest certificate (yielding maximum marks) will be considered. If a candidate having two certificates which are carrying equal marks, one certificate will be considered for awarding marks. A candidate can claim maximum of 5 marks under special marks.
Special Marks For Departmental Candidates:
Winning of medal in the National Police Duty Meet (Maximum 5 marks)
Gold Medal – 5 marks
Silver Medal – 3 marks
Bronze Medal – 2 marks
Departmental Quota candidates shall not be eligible for special marks for NCC/NSS/Sports/ Games. A candidate can claim maximum of 5 marks under special marks. If a candidate having two medals which are carrying equal marks, one certificate will be considered for awarding marks.
Provisional Select List:
a. Provisional Select List is drawn based on the total marks obtained in the Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test, Viva-Voce and Special marks subject to communal reservation and total vacancies.
b. If there is a tie in marks, the candidate senior in age shall be given priority in selection.
c. If the marks secured are equal and date of birth is same, preference shall be given to the candidate who is an outstanding scout, having received an award from the President of India.
d. Persons recruited to the post of Sub-Inspector of Police (Taluk, AR and TSP) under the 20% police departmental quota shall be placed above the direct recruits selected from open quota in the same recruitment.
e. 20% of all vacancies shall be set apart for open candidates on preferential basis for the persons who studied from 1st standard to the prescribed Degree in Tamil medium.
f. 20% preference for having studied in Tamil Medium will not be considered for departmental quota candidates.
Medical Examination And Verification Of Character And Antecedents: Provisionally selected candidates will have to undergo medical examination and verification of character and antecedents through Police Department.
