To be eligible for the post of Ophthalmic Assistant, a candidate should have Passed the two year Ophthalmic Assistant course conducted, by a Government Medical College or any other institution recognized by the Directorate of Medical Education; or Two year diploma in Optometry conducted by a Government Medical College or any other institution recognized by the Directorate of Medical Education and passed the three month condensed Para Medical Ophthalmic Assistant course conducted by the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Chennai or any other institution recognized by the Directorate of Medical Education.
Salary : The monthly salary for the post of Ophthalmic Assistant will range from Rs. 19,500 to Rs. 62,000, depending on the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications.
Additionally, there will be an application fee for the recruitment process, which will vary depending on the candidate’s category. For candidates belonging to the general category, the application fee is Rs. 600, while for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category, the application fee is Rs. 300.
Selection Process
The selection process for the recruitment drive will consist of a written examination and an interview. The written examination will have two parts – Part A and Part B. Part A will have questions related to General Knowledge, Tamil Nadu History, and Geography, while Part B will have questions related to Ophthalmology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology.
