SSC Junior Engineer Exam pattern
The Junior Engineer exam pattern consists of two papers such as Paper I and Paper II. The Paper I will be of Objective type question and Paper II will be of descriptive type questions will be asked. The separate exam duration will be 2 hours. The major part of exam pattern covers engineering streams topics such as Civil and structure, Electrical and Mechanical. All these put together for the total of 500 marks.

General Intelligence: Non – verbal type. General intelligence topic contains the questions on space visualization, similarities, and differences, problem-solving, figure classification, analysis, making decision , judgement, discriminating observation, arithmetical number series, visual memory, relationship concepts, non – verbal series etc. To test the candidate’s abilities it also includes the topics to deal with abstract ideas and symbols, arithmetical computation, relationship and other analytical functions.
English Language: Grammar, Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, sentence structure, and its correct usage, etc. candidates writing ability will also be tested.
Numerical Aptitude: Questions are based on problems relating to Number Systems, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Computation of Whole Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Percentages, Interest, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Profit and Loss, Menstruation, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, Time and Distance etc.
General Awareness: The questions are related to India and its neighbouring countries especially related to Sports, Culture, Geography, History, Economic scene, Scientific Research and General Polity including Indian Constitution etc.
