What is OPTCL

ODISHA POWER TRANSMISSION CORPORATION LIMITED (OPTCL), one of the largest Transmission Utility in the country was incorporated in March 2004 under the Companies Act, 1956 as a company wholly owned by the Government of Odisha to undertake the business of transmission and wheeling of electricity in the State. The registered office of the Company is situated at Bhubaneswar, the capital of the State of Odisha. Its projects and field units are spread all over the State. OPTCL became fully opeartional with effect from 9th June 2005 consequent upon issue of Odisha Electricity Reform (Transfer of Transmission and Related Activities) Scheme, 2005 under the provisions of Electricity Act, 2003 and the Odisha Reforms Act, 1995 by the State Government for transfer and vesting of transmission related activities of GRIDCO with OPTCL. The Company has been designated as the State Transmission Utility in terms of Section 39 of the Electricity Act, 2003.

Vacancies details

The total vacancies is 100, whereas the category wise vacancies are given below as SC allotment is 16nos, ST has 22nos, Socially and Educationally Backward class SEBC has 11nos, Unreserved allotment is 51nos. It is also said that, number of vacancies may increase or decrease by the corporation without any notice.

Qualification

The candidates who wanted to apply must have knowledge in computer application and also should be bachelor degree holder from recognised university or other equivalent qualification. Must be fluent in Odia like write,read and speak. The candidate should pass school examination with Odia as medium of examination in non- language subject. Good conduct certificate is also must.

Age Limit Criteria

The candidates must not be under 21years  and not above 32 years which is considered as on 1st Jan 2016. The age relaxation for SC,ST, SEBC and Women will be 5years and applicable relaxation for PWD is 10years. The date of birth which is entered in school certificate examination will only be considered. All are required to attach the respective certificate or document if you are claiming for reservation. The detailed reservation requirement is given in official notification.

Type of disability

The detailed disability types are given in official notification with codes and functions of it. The PWD certificates will be verified under prescribed format of medical board.

Selection Process

The Selection Process will be of CBT and Skill Test (Practical) in computer application. The CBT will be based on MCQ objective type with allotment of 30% from English as 60marks, 15% from Computer application as 30marks, 15% from Maths as 30Marks, Reasoning and mental ability for 20% as 40marks  and 20% from General Awareness as 40marks. The total time duration is 3 Hours. The Total marks is 200 and skill test is for 50 Marks. Once selected in CBT will be called for Skill Test. The Merit list will be fully based on performance in selection process. Medical fitness test will also be entertained as final appointment. The Minimum qualifying marks will be 50% for Unreserved categories and 40% for reserved categories in case of CBT. Likewise for skill test, also all category candidates must get minimum qualifying mark of 60% The Exam centres are Bhuvaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela and Balasore,Etc. Emolument

Once selected in final selection process, the candidates will be sent for 1 year period of training. The consolidated stipend of Rs.8000 per month will be paid during training period. The appointment will be offered only after completion of Training. Thus later they will get pay of Rs.5200 to Rs.20,200 + Grade Pay of Rs.2830 with other allowances as per OPTCL regulations.

Application Fee

The UR and SEBC candidates need to pay non refundable amount of Rs. 500 and otherssuch as SC,ST and PWD need to pay Rs. 250. OPTCL departmental candidates are exempted from payment of this application fee. These application fee payment will be acceptable either by online or offline mode. If you like to pay online, you can make use of payment gateway through Debit, Credit and Net banking. Extra Online charges also applicable. If going for offline mode means, take print of challan in prescribed format and submit the payment challan only through ICICI Bank. Retain the copy of challan or Online acknowledgement for future use of any queries.
