Eligibility Criteria: Candidates applying for the NTPC NML Recruitment 2024 must carefully read the official notification to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria for the respective positions. Educational Qualification:
1. Mining Overman – Full time regular Diploma in Mining from an Institute of repute with minimum 60% (For SC/ ST – minimum marks in academic qualification shall be pass marks) and Overman Certificate of Competency under CMR from DGMS for coal. Valid First Aid Certificate issued by Institutes recognized by DGMS. |
2. Magazine Incharge – Full time regular Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering from an Institute of repute with minimum 60% (For SC/ ST -minimum marks in academic qualification shall be pass marks). |
3. Mechanical Supervisor – Full time regular Diploma in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering from an Institute of repute with minimum 60% (For SC/ ST—minimum marks in academic qualification shall be pass marks) and having valid Electrical Supervisor certificate of competency covering mining installations issued by appropriate Government. |
4. Electrical Supervisor – Diploma in Mining/Electrical/Mechanical from an institute recognized by the Central Government with minimum 60% (For SC/ST—minimum marks in academic qualification shall be pass marks) and Valid Overman / Foreman certificate of competency from DGMS (Restricted/Unrestricted). Valid First Aid Certificate issued by Institutes recognized by DGMS. Minimum 5 years of working experience in mines and not less than 30 years of age. |
5. Vocational Training Instructor – Full time regular Diploma in Mine Survey / Diploma in Mining Engineering / Diploma in Mining & Mine Surveying / Diploma in Civil from an Institute of repute with minimum 60% (For SC/ ST – minimum marks in academic qualification shall be pass marks) with Survey Certificate issued by DGMS |
6. Junior Mine Surveyor – Full time regular Diploma in Mine Survey / Diploma in Mining Engineering / Diploma in Mining & Mine Surveying / Diploma in Civil from an Institute of repute with minimum 60% (For SC/ ST – minimum marks in academic qualification shall be pass marks) with Sunray Certificate issued by DGMS |
7. Mining Sirdar – Matric / 10th pass from Govt recognised Board, with valid Mining Sirdar certificate of competency issued by DGMS for coal and Valid First Aid certificate issued with minimum 60% (For SC/ ST — minimum marks in academic qualification shall be pass marks) |
Age Limit (As on 31.12.2023) : The Upper Age Limit is 30 Years (except for post mentioned at S. No. -5 (Vocational Training Instructor’) as on last date of online submission of Application at careers.ntpc.co.in portal for General (UR) & EWS category candidates.
*The upper age limit for Vocational Training Instructor shall be 40 years. Category-wise relaxation in Upper Age Limit is as mentioned below:
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 3 Years
- SC / ST – 5 Years
- Land Oustee – 5 years
- Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) category candidates is as per extant Govt. of India guidelines.
Salary: The selected candidates will be offered a competitive salary package as per the rules and regulations of NTPC and NML. The detailed salary structure for each position can be found in the official notification.

In addition, medical facilities for self, spouse & two children and HRA/company accommodation (subject to availability) shall be provided as per Company Rules. On official tour, the company will reimburse TA/DA, as applicable |
Selection Process: The selection process for NTPC NML Recruitment 2024 will include multiple stages such as written examinations, skill tests, interviews, and document verification. Candidates are advised to prepare thoroughly for the selection process as per the guidelines provided in the official notification.
Written Test: In first stage, a Written Test of Total 100 marks, comprising of multiple-choice questions, covering relevant subject / discipline, will be conducted. The duration of the Test will be upto 120 minutes. Each question will carry 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The qualifying marks are: 40% marks in case of General/EWS category and 30% in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates. The candidates will be shortlisted at an approved call ratio for 2nd stage Test.
Skill Competency Test: In 2nd stage, a Skill / Competency Test of total 100 marks in respective discipline will be conducted. The qualifying marks are 40% marks in case of General/EWS category and 30% in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates. The candidates shall be selected on the basis of the merit in the Written Test, subject to the condition that the candidate qualifies in the Skill / Competence Test.
Test Center: Both the 1st and 2nd Stage Tests shall be conducted at Test Centres in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The address of the venue will be notified through the admit card.
