Eligibility Criteria : To be eligible for the Agniveervayu (Sports Person) Posts, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.

Age Limit: Candidates must have been born between 27th June 2003 and 27th December 2006 (both days inclusive).

Educational Qualification:  (a) Science Subjects Candidates should have passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English from an Education Board recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
OR
Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile/ Computer Science/ Instrumentation Technology/ Information Technology) from a Government recognized Polytechnic institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in diploma course (or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course).
OR
Passed Two years Vocational course with non-vocational subject viz. Physics and Mathematics from an Education Board recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational course (or in Intermediate (12th) / Matriculation (10th), if English is not a subject in vocational course).

(b) Other than Science Subjects Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
OR
Passed 2 years vocational course from Education Boards recognised by Central Government, State Government and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational course (or in Intermediate (12th) / Matriculation (10th) if English is not a subject in Vocational Course).

Sports Achievements: (a) Individual should have represented the country in Junior National competitions / Senior National competitions recognized by International Olympics committee in any of the sports disciplines mentioned at Para 1.

(b) Individual should have attained the minimum standard of 5th place in the Junior National competitions, represented the State/Union Territory in Senior National competitions conducted by respective Sports Federations or All India Inter University competitions or SAI (Khelo India National) in any of the sports disciplines mentioned at Above Sports Discipline Table.

(c) In team events, the individual should have represented state in Junior National competitions / Senior National competitions conducted by respective Sports Federations or All India Inter University Championship or SAI (Khelo India National) in any of the sports disciplines mentioned at Above Sports Discipline Table.

Salary and Benefits : Selected candidates under the Agniveervayu (Sports Person) scheme will receive the following remuneration:

  • Monthly Salary:
    • 1st year: INR 30,000 (in-hand)
    • 2nd year: INR 33,000 (in-hand)
    • 3rd year: INR 36,500 (in-hand)
    • 4th year: INR 40,000 (in-hand)
  • Other Benefits:
    • Risk & Hardship allowances as applicable.
    • Insurance cover of INR 48 Lakhs.
    • Leave as per IAF policy.

After completion of four years, the Agniveers will receive a one-time “Seva Nidhi” package of approximately INR 11.71 Lakhs, which is exempted from Income Tax.

Selection Process: The selection process for the Agniveervayu (Sports Person) posts consists of the following stages:

Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Candidates will undergo a rigorous physical fitness test which includes a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 6 minutes 30 seconds, 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats within the stipulated time frame.

Sports Skill Trials: Candidates will be tested on their proficiency in the specific sport they are applying for. This trial will be conducted by a panel of experts from the respective sport.

Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify in the PFT and sports skill trials will undergo a detailed medical examination by the IAF medical board to assess their medical fitness.

Final Merit List: A final merit list will be prepared based on the performance in sports trials and medical examination. Successful candidates will be shortlisted and notified accordingly.
